Todd Akin, the Republican nominee for Senate in Missouri, tried to justify his opposition to abortion rights Sunday by telling KTVI-St. Louis that some “doctors” have informed him “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut the whole thing down.” Pretty solid science! So solid, in fact, that it appears Akin thought he could make a buck off of it by selling his own brand of rape kits. Hope that works out for him, as he clearly won’t be working in the U.S. Senate any time in the near future.
